"Narcos & Homes"

Narcos and Homes documents the properties of various Colombian drug traffickers that have been confiscated by the government in the recent years. This is a personal project where Calderon evoques  memories of her upbringing in Colombia during the 80ś and 90’s when drug trafficking was at its peak. With her father’s assistance, she photographed 7 houses in different parts of the country and one storeroom with personal belongings. The book includes a prologue by Nelson Gónzalez Ortega, professor in Hispanic Literature and Cultures at the University of Oslo, and author of a book on the new ethics and aesthetics emerging from the diverse subcultures of drug trafficking in Latin America. The images are accompanied by short texts drawn from experiences of life in Colombia during the raw and violent years between 1985-2001.
